A BRIEF HISTORY OF  AUDUBON DENTAL

Audubon Dental was formed in 1970 by Dr. Lynne and George Heckert. Dr. Lynne worked there until a few years ago when she had a serious problem, losing one eye, and opted to stop operating on patients. In March or 2026, the Heckerts sold the practice to Dr Mira Della Croce.  Dr George will remain for several months.

The Heckerts worked into their seventies and eighties, and  taught for years at the University for Pennsylvania, but  the time comes to pack up the dental instruments.  This comes with great sadness  and appreciation for the many generations of patients that passed through this office. We were fortunate to have  had many employees who were with us for a long time. Some will  remain.   The Heckerts live in King of Prussia. With their two Siamese cats.  Their son, George, III,  is a physician  living and working in Honolulu.

A Note from  Dr. Lynne:

The way dentistry is practiced has changed over time.  Now, many offices are not "dentist owned" but owned by corporations and venture capital organizations.  This consolidation is happening to all professions.  There are pros, cons or each type of  delivery and different players have different incentives.         Other changes involve new and expensive technology, computerization and new materials.  Insurance companies exert much control and offices require more employees to communicate with them.  There are pros, cons or each type of  delivery and different players have different incentives.  Of course each dental patient needs to needs to find the best dentist for them, an office in which they have trust feel comfortable.

A note from Dr. Lynne: Finally, I want to thank each and every one of the patients and friends that I have treated over the years.  I never really wanted to leave dentistry but time flew and we all get older.   I love and value you and will not forget you. I know that George feels the same way.
